Calcium carbonate

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000516

A naturally occurring mineral, CaCO3, widely used as a bridging agent and weighting material in drilling fluids. Its acid solubility makes it suitable for minimizing formation damage, as it can be easily dissolved after drilling to clean up the wellbore. It is also used as a lost circulation material and for increasing fluid density without adding abrasive solids.
