Acetic acid

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000026

A weak organic acid used in well stimulation treatments, particularly in carbonate reservoirs, to dissolve rock and improve permeability. It reacts with calcium carbonate to create channels that enhance fluid flow to the wellbore. This acid is less corrosive than hydrochloric acid and is often employed in matrix acidizing or as a pre-flush.
