Formic acid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001540
A weak organic acid used in well stimulation treatments, particularly for carbonate reservoirs, to dissolve formation minerals and improve permeability. It is less corrosive than hydrochloric acid and has a slower reaction rate, allowing for deeper penetration into the formation. Formic acid is often used in high-temperature applications.
