Forward modeling
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001541
The process of calculating a theoretical response based on a given geological model and known physical principles. This involves simulating how a specific measurement, such as a seismic trace or well log, would appear if the subsurface had a particular configuration of rock properties. The calculated response is then compared to actual field data to refine the geological model.
