Iterative forward modeling
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002059
A method for determining subsurface properties by repeatedly adjusting a geological model and calculating its theoretical response until it matches observed data. This process begins with an initial model, generates a synthetic response, compares it to actual measurements, and then modifies the model based on the discrepancies. The iteration continues until a satisfactory fit between the synthetic and observed data is achieved, often within a predefined tolerance.
