Reservoir modeling

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003120

The construction of a computer-based, three-dimensional representation of a hydrocarbon reservoir. This process translates geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data into a grid of cells, with each cell assigned specific properties such as rock type, porosity, permeability, and initial fluid saturations. The resulting static model quantifies the volume of hydrocarbons in place and serves as the primary input for dynamic reservoir simulation, which forecasts fluid flow over time.
