Reservoir heterogeneities
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003119
Variations in rock properties, such as permeability, porosity, and mineralogy, throughout a petroleum reservoir. These spatial changes can exist at multiple scales, from microscopic pore-level differences to large-scale features like faults, fractures, or stratigraphic layers. Well test pressure transient data can reveal the presence of heterogeneities, which appear as deviations from the expected response of a uniform, homogeneous reservoir model.
