Hough transform
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001867
A feature extraction algorithm used in image analysis to find instances of objects with a certain shape by a voting procedure. In reservoir characterization, it is applied to seismic images or borehole image logs to automatically detect and map linear or near-linear features like faults, fractures, and stratigraphic boundaries. The transform converts features from the spatial domain to a parameter space where they appear as peaks, making them easier to identify than in the original complex image.
