Transform fault
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003886
A type of strike-slip fault that accommodates relative horizontal motion between two tectonic plates. These faults are characterized by a lack of crustal creation or destruction along their length, primarily acting as boundaries where plates slide past each other. The San Andreas Fault in California is a well-known example of a transform fault, connecting different spreading centers.
