Fault

A fracture or zone of fractures in rock along which there has been observable displacement. Faults result from tectonic forces and can range in size from a few centimeters to hundreds of kilometers. They are classified by the relative movement of the rock blocks, such as normal, reverse, or strike-slip faults.
