Transpression
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004479
A type of strike-slip deformation that also involves a component of compression perpendicular to the fault zone. This combination of forces leads to the formation of folds, thrust faults, and uplifted blocks along the fault. Transpressional regimes can create complex structural traps for hydrocarbon accumulation.
