Flower structure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001489
A complex set of faults that branch upward and outward from a single, deep-seated strike-slip fault. In cross-section, the pattern of branching faults resembles a flower's petals. Positive flower structures form domes or anticlines due to transpression, creating potential hydrocarbon traps, while negative flower structures form basins due to transtension, creating space for sediment accumulation.
