Flowback

The process of allowing fluids to return from the wellbore to the surface after a stimulation treatment, such as hydraulic fracturing. This phase removes the treatment fluids and allows the well to clean up, enabling the production of hydrocarbons. The volume and composition of flowback water are closely monitored.
