Matrix stimulation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002298
A well treatment designed to improve the flow of hydrocarbons from the reservoir into the wellbore by dissolving or bypassing damage in the near-wellbore formation. Acid or other reactive fluids are injected at pressures below the formation fracturing pressure, maintaining the natural rock matrix. This method is distinct from hydraulic fracturing, which creates new flow paths.
