Structural trap

A type of hydrocarbon trap formed by the deformation of rock layers, such as folding or faulting, which creates a configuration that prevents the upward migration of oil and gas. Common examples include anticlines, fault traps, and salt domes. These traps are often identified through seismic surveys.
