Structural steering
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003661
A method for steering horizontal wells in which 3D structural models are combined with borehole images, often interpreted in real time, to place the trajectory relative to the layers being drilled. The team compares the dip seen in the images with the model and adjusts the well inclination to stay at the planned position in the formation. Borehole image logs showing bed boundaries and dip are the main input.
