Stratigraphic trap

A type of hydrocarbon trap formed by changes in rock type, porosity, or permeability within a sedimentary sequence, rather than by structural deformation. Examples include pinch-outs, unconformities, and reef buildups. These traps are often more challenging to locate than structural traps due to their subtle nature.
