Drape

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001171

The deformation of sedimentary layers over an underlying topographic high, such as a fault block or a reef, resulting in a gentle folding or bending of the overlying strata. This structural configuration can create anticlinal traps where hydrocarbons accumulate. Drape structures are often associated with basement uplifts or salt movement.
