Fault
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002193
A fracture or zone of fractures in rock along which there has been observable displacement. Faults result from tectonic forces that cause blocks of the Earth's crust to move relative to each other. They can significantly impact mining operations by offsetting ore bodies, creating unstable ground conditions, and influencing groundwater flow.
