Heave

The upward movement or displacement of rock or ground, often caused by tectonic forces, frost action, or the expansion of clay minerals. In mining, heave can refer to the upward displacement of the mine floor due to pressure from underlying strata or swelling ground. This phenomenon can disrupt infrastructure and require engineering solutions to mitigate its effects.
