Bump

A sudden and violent release of stress in rock strata within an underground mine, resulting in a rapid displacement of rock. This phenomenon, also known as a rockburst, can cause damage to mine workings and pose a hazard to personnel. Bumps are more common in deep mines with high rock pressures, often occurring in brittle rock types like coal or quartzite.
