Detonation

A supersonic combustion process characterized by a shock wave propagating through a reactive medium, igniting the unburnt fuel ahead of it. This rapid and violent energy release creates extremely high pressures and temperatures. Detonation is an undesirable phenomenon in internal combustion engines, leading to engine damage.
