Water injection

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006532

A technique used in internal combustion engines to spray a fine mist of water or a water-methanol mixture into the intake manifold or combustion chamber. This process cools the intake charge and combustion process, which suppresses detonation and allows for higher boost pressures or more aggressive ignition timing. It is often employed in high-performance or forced-induction engines to increase power and reliability.
