Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003035

A component of an internal combustion engine that distributes the air or air-fuel mixture from a single inlet to the multiple intake ports in the cylinder head. Its design, including the length and diameter of its passages, called runners, affects the engine's power band and performance characteristics. In many modern gasoline engines, fuel injectors are mounted directly on the intake manifold runners.
