Strike fault
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003651
A fault whose strike is parallel to the strike of the bedding it cuts. Because it runs along the strike, a well crossing it can encounter beds repeated or missing from the section. The name describes orientation relative to the beds, not the direction of slip, so it should not be confused with a strike-slip fault, where displacement is horizontal along the fault.
