Dip fault
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004289
A fault whose strike runs in the direction of dip of the strata it cuts, so that it crosses the strike of the beds. The name describes the fault's orientation relative to the bedding, not its slip direction. It contrasts with a strike fault, which runs parallel to the strike of the beds, and with a dip-slip fault, which is defined by movement along the dip of the fault plane.
