Strike

The compass direction of a horizontal line formed by the intersection of an inclined geological surface, such as a bedding plane or a fault, with a horizontal plane. It is always perpendicular to the dip direction. Geologists measure strike in degrees relative to true north, for example, N30E or 030 degrees.
