Reverse fault

A type of fault where the hanging wall moves upward relative to the footwall, indicating compressional forces. This movement results in a shortening of the Earth's crust. The dip of a reverse fault is generally greater than 45 degrees, distinguishing it from a thrust fault which has a shallower dip.
