Reverse combustion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003150
An in-situ combustion process where the combustion front moves in the opposite direction to the injected air or oxygen. Air is injected into one well and the combustion is initiated at another well, with the flame front propagating towards the injection well. This method is typically applied to heavy oil reservoirs with high viscosity, where the heat generated reduces oil viscosity and mobilizes it towards production wells.
