Flue gas
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001498
The exhaust gas produced from the combustion of fossil fuels in furnaces, boilers, or engines. In enhanced oil recovery, flue gas is captured, compressed, and injected into a reservoir to maintain pressure and displace oil towards production wells. Its composition is primarily nitrogen and carbon dioxide, with smaller amounts of water vapor, oxygen, and other trace gases, and the exact N2 to CO2 ratio depends on the fuel and combustion conditions.
