Flue gas
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004508
The gaseous exhaust product from the combustion of fuels such as coal, oil, or natural gas in a furnace, boiler, or other industrial process. It is discharged into the atmosphere through a flue or stack and primarily consists of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. Flue gas also contains pollutants like sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter, which are often removed by flue-gas desulfurization or other scrubbing technologies before release.
