Residual fuel/oil
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010223
A heavy, viscous petroleum product remaining after the lighter, more volatile fractions have been removed during crude oil refining. This fuel contains high molecular weight hydrocarbons and impurities such as sulfur and metals. It is primarily used in power generation, marine propulsion, and industrial furnaces, requiring preheating before combustion.
