Hydrocracking unit
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005461
A refinery processing unit that converts heavy petroleum fractions into lighter, more valuable products such as gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel. This process involves the catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons in the presence of hydrogen at high temperatures and pressures. The hydrogen suppresses coke formation and saturates unsaturated hydrocarbons.
