Catalytic hydrocracking
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001725
A refining process that breaks down large hydrocarbon molecules into smaller, more valuable ones by reacting them with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst. This process reduces the molecular weight of heavy petroleum fractions, producing lighter products like gasoline and jet fuel. It typically operates under high pressure and elevated temperatures.
