Catalytic reforming
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001729
A refinery process that converts low-octane naphtha into high-octane reformate, which is a valuable blending component for gasoline, using a catalyst. This process involves a series of reactions, including dehydrogenation, isomerization, and cyclization, to rearrange hydrocarbon molecules. Platinum-rhenium catalysts are commonly used in continuous catalytic reformers.
