Toe to heel air injection
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003858
A variation of in-situ combustion where air is injected into the toe (bottom) of a horizontal well, and combustion gases and mobilized oil are produced from the heel (top) of the same well. This method creates a controlled combustion front that moves along the wellbore, heating the oil and reducing its viscosity. The process is often applied in heavy oil reservoirs with high permeability.
