Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003801
An in-situ combustion process for heavy oil in which air is injected through vertical wells near the toe of a horizontal production well, so that a combustion front advances along that well from toe to heel. Heat and combustion gases mobilize the oil, which drains into the horizontal producer, and the oil is partly upgraded as it passes through the hot zone ahead of the front.
