TG
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004472
The total concentration of hydrocarbon gases, from methane to pentane, detected in the drilling fluid as it returns to the surface. Measured continuously by a gas detection system, Total Gas (TG) provides an early indication of hydrocarbon-bearing formations encountered by the bit. The readings are plotted on a mud log against depth, with sharp increases, or gas kicks, signaling a potential influx of formation fluids into the wellbore.
