Siderite

An iron carbonate mineral (FeCO3) that can be encountered in drilled formations or form as a precipitate in drilling fluids. When present in formations, it can contribute to the total solids content of the mud. Siderite can also form scale in production equipment under certain conditions of pH and temperature.
