Leak detection

The process of identifying and locating unintended releases of hydrocarbons or other fluids from pipelines, tanks, or wellbores. Methods include visual inspection, acoustic monitoring, pressure drop analysis, and tracer gas detection. Early detection minimizes environmental impact and product loss, and is often mandated by regulatory bodies such as the EPA.
