Leak off
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002140
To intentionally increase the pressure in a wellbore to determine the fracture pressure of the open-hole formation immediately below the casing shoe. The procedure, known as a leak-off test (LOT), involves pumping fluid into the sealed well and plotting pressure against volume until the pressure deviates from a straight line. This deviation point indicates the pressure at which the formation begins to accept fluid.
