Bleed off

To slowly release pressure from a wellbore, pipeline, or equipment by opening a valve or choke. This controlled reduction in pressure is performed for safety, to adjust well conditions, or to prepare for maintenance. Bleeding off pressure is a standard procedure during well control operations or equipment depressurization.
