Tubing-retrievable safety valve (TRSV)
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003948
A downhole safety device installed as an integral part of the production tubing string, designed to automatically shut off well flow in an emergency. It is controlled by hydraulic pressure from the surface and closes if that pressure is lost, preventing uncontrolled release of hydrocarbons. Unlike wireline-retrievable valves, a TRSV requires pulling the entire tubing string for repair or replacement.
