Subsea isolation valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003673
A large valve, or assembly of valves, installed on a subsea pipeline or flowline to stop the flow of hydrocarbons in an emergency. Actuated remotely from a control platform or vessel, it provides a means to isolate a section of pipeline, a manifold, or a well from the rest of the production system. These valves are a key safety barrier for preventing or limiting the scale of an oil or gas release on the seabed.
