Surface-controlled subsurface safety valve (SCSSV)

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003704

A type of subsurface safety valve that is operated remotely from the surface through a hydraulic control line or electrical cable. This allows operators to open or close the valve as needed, providing active control over well flow. In an emergency, loss of control line pressure or electrical signal causes the valve to close automatically, securing the well.
