Orifice valve

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002643

A type of gas-lift valve that contains a fixed-size opening, or orifice, for the continuous injection of gas into the production tubing. Unlike pressure-operated valves that open and close based on casing and tubing pressures, an orifice valve remains constantly open once the system injection pressure exceeds the well's hydrostatic pressure at the valve depth. The gas injection rate is controlled by the orifice diameter and the surface injection pressure.
