Operating gas-lift valve (OGLV)

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002633

The primary, lowermost valve in a gas-lift system through which injection gas continuously enters the production tubing to reduce fluid density and lift hydrocarbons to the surface. This operating gas-lift valve (OGLV) is set at a specific depth determined by the available injection pressure and desired production rate. Valves located above it, known as unloading valves, are used only during well startup to displace heavier fluids from the annulus.
