Relief valve

A safety device designed to open and discharge fluid when the pressure in a system exceeds a predetermined set point, thereby preventing overpressure. It automatically recloses once the pressure returns to a safe level. These valves are installed on pressure vessels, pipelines, and other equipment to protect against catastrophic failure.
