Release joint

A specialized threaded connection in a drill string or completion string designed to be intentionally disconnected downhole. This joint allows for the separation of tubular components, such as detaching a stuck bottom hole assembly from the drill pipe. It is activated by applying a specific torque or by a hydraulic mechanism to free the upper section of the string.
