Hydraulic disconnect
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001890
A safety device incorporated into a coiled tubing or wireline bottomhole assembly that allows for remote separation of the tool string from the surface equipment. This mechanism is activated by applying hydraulic pressure from the surface, enabling the operator to retrieve the surface equipment if the downhole tools become stuck. It prevents loss of the entire string in case of an emergency.
